Washington is making it easier for people to access mental health care and substance use treatment.
By 2020, community health centers will be part of a network that includes specialists, mental health providers, substance use treatment centers, and social support, all in your community. It will all be under your managed care plan, so you will only have to make one phone call.
Many community health centers already offer mental health care providers. If yours doesn’t yet, they can help connect you to a facility that does.
Your primary care doctor can help you get mental health care too. Every primary care provider can do an initial assessment. The initial assessment is the first step to getting care. They can also recommend specialists if you aren’t sure who to see.
However, you don’t need to get a referral from your primary care doctor to see a mental health provider.
As your health plan, we’re here to open doors to care. We have online mental health resource centers for adults and for kids. Our case managers are available to advocate for you and make sure you get an appointment. Our customer service team is local, friendly, and ready to answer your questions.
