Top 5 Reasons to Choose a Medicare Advantage Plan

When it comes to Medicare, there are more options than you think. Most newly eligible seniors will choose Original Medicare because it’s the program they are most familiar with. Original Medicare includes both Parts A and B, which provide hospital and medical insurance – however, it only covers 80% of the medical costs. For the same price as the Part B premium, seniors can get better options, added benefits, and the security of a limit on total medical costs. That’s where an Advantage Plan comes in. A Medicare Advantage plan offers the same coverage as original Medicare plus additional coverage for things like pharmacy, dental, vision, and wellness programs.

Here are the top 5 reasons to enroll in a Medicare Advantage Plan:

#1: Extra Benefits
An advantage plan has options to best suit your health, whether you need coverage for dental, vision or prescription drugs. Our plans offer many other benefits like hearing aids, chiropractic and acupuncture services, naturopathy, a 24-hour nurse advice line, and gym memberships.

#2: One Plan that Combines Medical and Prescription Drug Coverage
Advantage plans will bundle coverage to make sure all areas of your health are covered. Most plans combine original Medicare Parts A and B and the prescription drug portion covered in Part D. In addition, you can also get coverage for routine dental and vision appointments. That means that you’ll have complete coverage with just a single card.

#3: $0 to low-cost premiums and affordable copays
Advantage plans are available with premiums as low as $0. For little to no extra cost per month, you’ll have additional coverage and the security of a comprehensive insurance plan. Medicare works with plan providers to offer coverage in other important areas of your health, like dental, vision or prescription drugs. You must continue to pay your Medicare Part B premium.

Advantage plans have affordable deductibles and copay amounts. Depending on your plan, these amounts are fixed so you know exactly what you’ll pay for each visit. This allows you to budget better for your expected health care costs with no surprises.

#4: A limit to annual out of pocket expenses
Many advantage plans limit the maximum amount that you have to pay for services per year, while original Medicare does not. Once you reach the maximum limit, your plan will pay in full for all other covered services. For example, if your plan has an out of pocket maximum of $6,700, then this amount is most you will pay for covered services for that year. If your medical costs exceed this amount, your plan will take care of the remaining costs.

#5: A network of care providers and resources in your community.
With an advantage plan, you have one convenient location that brings together your doctors, your clinics and your plan benefits. You can access the information and resources you need to live healthy. We offer a large provider network, and the support of a local, member-focused health plan.
