What does Apple Health (Medicaid) renewal mean?

Apple Health renewal happens once a year. Renewal means people who get Apple Health coverage are asked to confirm that they still qualify.

Not everyone can get Apple Health (Medicaid). Eligibility depends on factors that include:

  • Age
  • Income
  • Household size
  • Immigration status

I haven’t had to renew before. Why now?

During the COVID-19 public health emergency, the state’s Health Care Authority (HCA), who oversees Apple Health in Washington, extended coverage for people on Apple Health. That means people on Apple Health weren’t required to renew in order to keep their health care coverage.

Beginning on April 1, 2023, the HCA is starting the renewal process again. This may be the first time you’re being asked to renew your health coverage, especially if you started getting Apple Health coverage in 2020 or after.

That’s okay! Stay on this page to learn how to renew, or call the friendly team at CHPW for help.
