Why 5 Questions?
At Community Health Plan of Washington (CHPW), we believe in the power of community. We partner with our members, providers, and communities to provide quality care that helps each person and family meet their health needs.
Kate Ingman (she/her) recently joined us in this work, in the role of Regional Manager for Integrated Managed Care. We asked Kate a few questions so that our community can get to know her and her work.
How long have you been with CHPW? What’s your current role?
I’ve been with CHPW a little over one month. I am the Regional Manager for Integrated Managed Care for the Salish region.
I work to represent the community I live in and the Salish region, which includes Kitsap, Clallam, and Jefferson County (and the Olympic Mountains).
I work at the community level across the region and collaborate between CHPW and the regional providers. Along with the other regional managers across Washington State, our Integrated Managed Care (IMC) team works to stay aware of the unique needs of each region and advocate for them.
💡 Did you know? CHPW integrated managed care provides services for both physical and behavioral health, including mental health and substance use disorder treatment. This way members can access the care they need through a single plan.
What inspired you to apply for the role at CHPW?
This role provides an opportunity for me to continue to serve my community and expand my impact beyond behavioral health, which was my focus in previous roles, to include physical health, housing, and all the unique needs that support an individual in their community. I am inspired by CHPW’s commitment to advocate for policy change and focus on Washington community efforts.
Why did you choose to pursue a career in health care?
I began my career in social work because I saw the needs of children extended beyond the classroom into their home. I wanted to make an impact not just on the well-being of children, but on their family & community system, too, to support their overall health. This journey ultimately led to a career focused on public health and health care.

What is something you recently learned or accomplished that you are proud of?
I recently refinished the 100-year-old wood floors in my house! This project took 8 months and began very innocently with “just pulling up the corner of the carpet.” I do not recommend it. 😊
I also started reading books again. That I do recommend!
If you have visitors from out of town, where do you like to take them to experience the Pacific Northwest?
Too many places to choose from! If we only have a day: we start off with croissants from Saboteur bakery, walk along Sea Glass beach in Port Townsend, grab lunch next to the water, then Finn River Cider on the way home.
